Aladdin is the first Disney movie which features a princess who is not the main hero. In spite of being a secondary character, Jasmine has managed to remain in people’s hearts as the beautiful, clever princess captive in her own social status. Indeed, Jasmine was created in such a way as to appeal to young hearts looking for beauty and a great heart in a princess, and as well the possessor of great intelligence and education that would please adults.
With such great features it is impossible not to love Jasmine even after almost 20 years from her first appearance on the screens. If your daughter has just seen Aladdin and has remained fascinated with the exotic beauty and kindness possessed by Jasmine, you should turn her into the Arabian princess this Halloween.
Jasmine wore many costumes in Aladdin, but the costume which has remained in people’s memory is the turquoise bedlah (belly dancer belt) featuring a pair of puffy pants and a matching top. The outfit is completed by a pair of golden earrings, a turquoise headband with blue cameo in front and golden necklace.
She has her long black hair styled in a loose ponytail fastened with two turquoise hairbands. It has been suggested that the turquoise color of Jasmine’s outfit is the color of water, the most precious thing to be found in the dessert. Furthermore, the initial scene emphasizes this metaphor by presenting Jasmine next to a fountain. Thus, by far the best alternative for a kid Jasmine costume is the turquoise bedlah.
While this is the easy recognizable Jasmine outfit, the Arabian princess has changed several other costumes during Aladdin and its sequels. Thus, when Jasmine is presented for her formal announcement, she wears a long purple dress with mauve headband and the same golden earrings and choker. When she is forced to become Jafar’s slave, Jasmine’s costume resembles the turquoise one, but this time is red and a golden crown has taken place of the headband.
At the end of Aladdin, she returns to her favorite color: turquoise, but the top has now purple translucent sleeves for added elegance and sign of her maturity. Each one of these outfits can serve you as inspiration for your Jasmine from Aladdin costume this Halloween. Just see the movie again with your little one and ask her what she would like her costume to be like. It will be great for her to have the freedom to choose, the same freedom that Jasmine so much longed for.
