Every girl wants to dress up as a princess for Halloween or her birthday party. While most people think of Cinderella and Snow White as the image of a princess, Disney has created a multitude of great princesses through their animations, each with their own personality and roles. Let’s take a look at the most famous Disney princesses and see how each one is dressed.
Jasmine
Jasmine, from the movie Aladdin, is a 16 years old girl with beautiful looks and distinctive Arabian features (tanned skin, beautiful long dark hair, large brown eyes and full red lips). Her signature outfit in Aladdin is made up of turquoise puffy harem puffy pairs and a sleeveless short top. The Princess Jasmine costume is an exotic outfit, suitable for little (or grown up) princesses who want a distinctive costume that will make them stand out of the crowd.
Snow White
Snow White, the first Disney princess (indeed, the first full-length animation from Disney, in 1937), has skin as white as snow and long black hair. Her rose lips and cheeks as red as blood (sounds rather Grimm) and large brown eyes is the epitome of female beauty (indeed, the fairest in the kingdom!) Her great soul and charm brings Snow White lots of friends, but will also make her vulnerable against the attacks of the Evil Queen.
If the story of Snow White has made a powerful impression on your little one, you can help her dress like Snow White for Halloween or for her birthday party (dress the invites in the 7 dwarfs – heck, I went to a wedding where the groomsmen were all dwarfs and the groom the prince!)
The costume should include a long dress with dark blue top, white collar, blue puffy sleeves decorated with red tear drops and a long yellow skirt. Place a red headband with a little bow in the middle in her hair and your girl will be ready to head towards the house of the seven dwarfs.
Cinderella
Cinderella is one of the animations which have marked many a girls’ childhood. This story calls out to all of us – who doesn’t wish to be a secret princess, especially while doing menial chores at home? It’s the original rags to riches story.
During the Disney animation, Cinderella wears a few outfits, starting with her poor nightgown and her tattered slave dress.
Her signature dress is the one in which she goes to the banquet. The famous pale blue long dress with puffy sleeves, long skirt and pale blue long gloves is what most girls want to wear as a Cinderella costume. Add a blue hair band and a blue velvet choker and you have the perfect Disney princess costume for your little one.
Ariel
Ariel is a mermaid who wishes to be human – and her wish comes true, but with consequences she must overcome. Her beautiful red flowing hair and wide innocent eyes, curious as to the doings of the human world, makes her one of the most exotic of Disney princesses.
Ariel’s signature outfit consists of a purple bra made of shells and her green-blue tail (which can be replaced by a mermaid-style skirt or a pair of pants in the same color). More appropriate for kids is a cute turquoise or purple dress with fin accents and. While Ariel had plenty of outfits during Disney animations, this simple, yet charming costume is what truly represents her.
Belle
Belle’s outfits are usually simple long country girl dresses in pale colors (blue and pink) meant to highlight her beauty and innocent charm rather than a sophisticated princess appearance. However, her famous outfit in which she dances with the Beast is a spectacular yellow ball gown with off shoulders straps, a plunging neckline and a flower detail in front. She also wears long yellow gloves and matching dancing shoes, and her hair is styled in a half bun with a yellow hair band.
Sleeping Beauty
Sleeping Beauty (Aurora or Briar Rose) is a fair princess who has been cursed at birth by a vengeful fairy to touch a spindle and fall asleep forever. She has a long, flowing blond hair, blue eyes and rose red lips. Her signature costume is the dress she wore when attending the ball. It is a pink, off shoulder dress with long sleeves and long skirt. Accessorize it with pink ball shoes, a golden necklace and gold tiara for the complete Sleeping Beauty. Don’t forget the red rose, placed on her chest when asleep.
Tiana
Apart from being the first black Disney princess, Tiana is also an independent, strong willed person, a real model for any modern woman. The signature costume for Tiana is the long green sleeveless dress, accessorized with a pale blue tiara and a blue choker. A gorgeous dress that complements any type of women, from little girls to grown ups.
Rapunzel
The movie Tangled introduced audiences to Rapunzel, a lost princess kept in a locked tower due to her magical hair. She’s kept prisoner by Gothel, whom she believes to be her mother – the magic of her hair keeps her young. Every birthday, the nearby kingdom sends out thousands of floating lights in honor of their lost princess, and on her 18th birthday, this cloistered but headstrong princess is determined to see the source of these lights.
The Rapunzel costume is a gorgeous purple dress with a lace-up bodice and lace on the sleeves and hemline. Add a glittery silver crown and silver shoes to complete your princess look.
Every girl dreams of becoming a princess at one moment in her life – likely several! You can find plenty of Disney princess costumes on the market, so all you have to do is choose your (or your girl’s) favorite and get ready to have some royal fun!
